The Oarfish is the longest bony fish in the world, it can reach 36 feet in length and typically found in depths of around 1,600 feet below water. These fish tend to swim in pairs near shallow waters, as to why they venture so far away from their comfortable depths that is still unknown to science.

The Icy Finger of Death or Brinicle is caused by brine (very cold salt water). When super cold salt water, which is colder than the surrounding seawater, trickles down to the bottom of the ocean the seawater around it freezes creating this brittle, twisting tendril of ice that can snake down to the ocean floor where it freezes everything on its path.
